   Getting Here and Local Public Transport

Redruth is part of the largest conurbation in Cornwall.  It is centrally located, with excellent access to the main A30 dual carriageway, and along other major routes to the South Coast at Falmouth and the Lizard.  The train station is on the mainline – with regular trains to London Paddington.  Bus services in and around Redruth are excellent, with regular routes to local beaches and to other towns in the area.  Redruth is within an hour’s drive of most destinations in Cornwall, and is within 2 hours of much of Devon. 

The local destinations of Portreath, Gwithian, The Towans, St Agnes, Porthtowan and Perranporth are all within 15 minutes drive, and further afield destinations such as Marazion, St Michael’s Mount, St Ives, Praa Sands, Porthleven and Newquay are within half an hour. By Car
Redruth is less than 1 mile from the A30, and can be accessed by from three junctions: Scorrier (A3047); Redruth/Porthtowan (Avers); Pool (A3047).  Redruth town centre is well signposted from these junctions.
From the south, Redruth can be accessed by the A393 from Falmouth & Penryn, and via the B3297 from Helston and the Lizard.

Car parking in Redruth is very close to town centre shops and services, and is amongst the cheapest in Cornwall (and sometimes even free).  There are 6 major town centre car parks, and one main coach park.

By National Express Coach
The coach stop is by Redruth Train Station in the centre of town.  National Express run daily service both ways along the South Coast (Plymouth, Exeter, Bournemouth, Southampton, Portsmouth), to London (via Newquay, Plymouth, Exeter, Heathrow), and to Birmingham and Leeds (via Plymouth, Exeter, Bristol, Sheffield).  For more see here.

By Train
The train service to and from Redruth is excellent.  Regular trains can be taken to/from London, Plymouth and everywhere in between!  The train station is in the centre of town alongside taxi ranks, the main bus stop, the coach drop off point and by the Redruth Visitor Centre.

Bus services from and to Redruth run frequently from all major towns in West and Mid Cornwall.  You will find easy access to:

  • Truro every 10 minutes
  • Falmouth every 30 minutes
  • St Ives, Portreath, Hayle, Helston and the Lizard every hour
  • St Agnes every 2 hours
  • Newquay and Penzance once a day

  • Penzance, 26 minutes
  • St Austell, 27 minutes

The main taxi ranks in Redruth are at the train station, and on Green Lane near the Town Clock.  There are many taxi companies in Redruth, and it is usually very easy to pick one up.
